Read a dating-app bill before paying in Nigeria
Separate the feature, currency, renewal and payment provider so stopping the app does not leave a subscription running.

Read the actual offer on your own account. Identify the billing currency, charge, renewal period and cancellation provider before paying. Removing the app, hiding a profile and cancelling a subscription are different actions. Keep a receipt showing what you authorised.
Use this in your own words
The receipt you should be able to explain
- Product
What exact feature or period am I buying?
- Amount
What currency and total charge does my current offer show? Do I understand any conversion?
- Renewal
When and for how much may it renew, according to this offer?
- Owner of the bill
Which account and provider will process cancellation?
- Evidence
Keep the receipt and the cancellation or expiry confirmation without sharing payment credentials.
These are optional prompts, not a score or diagnosis. Adapt them to your situation. This tool does not submit or store answers.
Name the charge you are considering
You want to try a filter, but the purchase screen offers several periods and a one-off add-on. Write down what each charge buys. A monthly subscription, a bundle of boosts and a discounted multi-month plan are not interchangeable products.
This guide does not quote a Nigerian price or promise a specific payment method. Offers, taxes, exchange treatment and eligibility can depend on the provider, storefront and your account. If the offer is not in naira, do not assume your final NGN cost from the headline number alone; check the terms shown by the merchant and your payment provider.
Keep billing separate from the dating account
Find out whether Apple, Google Play or the dating provider bills you. The receipt and subscription screen are more useful than guessing from the phone you use now. A subscription purchased on a previous device or another account may need to be managed through that original billing relationship.
Google Play explicitly warns that uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription. Apple provides subscription cancellation controls for Apple-billed purchases. Follow the correct current instructions for your actual purchase; deleting a profile is not a reliable billing instruction.
Choose an affordable experiment, not an outcome
Before authorising payment, set a spending limit you can afford without needing matches to justify it. A useful paid feature still cannot promise compatibility, safety or a relationship. Do not increase your budget because an app implies that one more purchase will resolve uncertainty about another person.
Record the renewal date and check the cancellation confirmation if you decide to stop. Cancelling future renewal, receiving a refund and deleting account data are separate requests. Read the applicable provider's terms rather than assuming one action does all three.
Questions you might still have
Does uninstalling stop payment?
Do not rely on that. Manage the subscription with its billing provider and confirm its status.
Do these instructions guarantee a refund?
No. Refund eligibility is a separate question under the merchant's current process and applicable circumstances.
Can I assume every app takes a local transfer?
No. Verify the methods offered on your legitimate account. Do not pay an unofficial agent to unlock a feature.
Sources, scope and limitations
The examples and conversation prompts are Afrolu editorial illustrations, not reported interviews or evidence of national dating habits. These sources support the specific product or safety points described below.
- Apple: cancel a subscription
Instructions for subscriptions billed by Apple. A provider-billed purchase may need a different cancellation route.
- Google Play: cancel, pause or change a subscription
Google Play subscription controls; uninstalling an app does not cancel a subscription. This does not establish any dating app's local availability or price.
