Leaving a dating app linked to Google
Close the dating account before removing its sign-in link
If you want to close a dating account that uses Sign in with Google, first check the dating service’s current closure steps while you can still sign in. Then review your linked apps in your Google Account and decide whether to remove that sign-in link. Google says removing the link stops automatic sign-in; it does not delete data held by the app. Check any paid plan separately.
After deciding to leave a dating service, Kamau remembers that he signed in with a personal Google Account. He sees the service listed among his linked apps and wonders whether removing that link will close his dating profile too.
Start with the service that holds your dating profile
Kamau can sign in and read that dating service’s account-closure instructions. If the service offers a pause as well as deletion, he can check what each choice does to profile visibility. An app’s icon, an account and a sign-in link are different things.
Some account actions may need a confirmation message or a working login. If he cannot sign in, he can contact the service through its official help page rather than creating another account and assuming the first one is gone.
Review the link in your Google Account
Google’s linked-apps page lists services where you use Sign in with Google. Selecting a service lets you review and remove that sign-in link. Google says removing it stops automatic sign-in, but the service may still hold the information it already received.
That is why Kamau checks the dating account first. Removing the Google link is a separate decision from asking the dating service to close its account. The exact menu labels may change, so follow Google’s current help.
Check a paid plan on its own
If Kamau pays for the dating service, he can identify who bills him and check the subscription with that provider. Apple and Google Play say removing an app does not itself cancel a store subscription. A dating service may also use another billing route. He can keep any closure or cancellation confirmation in a private place, while remembering that an email cannot guarantee how the service processes a request.
If the link is already gone
Do not assume the dating profile is closed. Use the service’s official support page to ask how to recover access or close the existing account. Give only information the genuine service needs; do not share your Google password with a person offering to fix it for you.
