App charges · find the bill
Dating app deleted but still charging?
First find who billed the subscription. Check your receipt, app-store account or the dating service's billing page. Removing an app from your phone does not necessarily cancel a paid plan. Use the cancellation steps for the provider that actually bills you, then keep the confirmation and contact that provider if you still have a question.
Find the billing provider before deciding what to cancel.
The choice in front of you
Who is charging you?
Ruth stopped using a dating app and removed it from her phone. A month later, she sees a charge she does not recognize. She can first look at the receipt and payment record to find who billed it.
A charge can have different explanations. The useful next step is to check the subscription and its billing account, rather than assume the app removal cancelled it.
Read the record
Find the provider and account
Look for a receipt in your email or payment history. It may identify Apple, Google Play or the dating service. Check the amount, date and account shown; be careful not to post a receipt that contains personal details.
Apple says that if a family member's Apple Account appears on the receipt, that person may need to cancel the subscription. If you cannot find the plan, follow the billing provider's official help instead of guessing or sharing a password.
Choose the right help
Use the billing provider's steps
If Apple bills the plan, use Apple's subscription instructions for the relevant Apple Account. If Google Play bills it, use Google Play's instructions for the Google account used to subscribe. Google says uninstalling an app does not cancel a Play subscription.
If the dating service bills you directly, check that service's own cancellation and support instructions. Billing arrangements differ; this guide cannot tell you the terms of a particular plan.
Account is separate
Decide what to do with the dating account
Cancelling a subscription may not close a dating account. If you also want your profile removed, read that dating service's current account-closing instructions. If you want to keep a free account, check what remains available after cancellation.
Deleting the app icon is not a reliable way to decide either outcome. Check the account and the paid plan as two separate choices.
If a charge remains unclear
Keep the confirmation and ask the provider
Save a cancellation confirmation if the provider gives one. If a later charge concerns you, contact the billing provider through its official support channel and ask what it covers. A charge may relate to a different account or an earlier billing period; the provider can check its own records.
Do not assume this article promises a refund. Ask the provider about the options and dates that apply to your payment.

Sources and their limits
Ruth and her receipt are invented. Apple and Google explain their own subscription systems; their guidance does not describe every direct-billed dating service or guarantee a refund.
- Apple Support: Cancel a subscription from Apple
It explains finding the Apple Account on a receipt and cancelling a subscription through that account.
Limit: It cannot decide whether Ruth's charge qualifies for a refund or describe a direct-billed plan. - Google Play Help: Cancel, pause or change a subscription on Google Play
It says uninstalling an app does not cancel a Google Play subscription and shows Play cancellation steps.
Limit: It does not describe an Apple subscription or the dating service's own account closure process.
Questions you may still have
Does deleting the app cancel a subscription?
Not necessarily. Google Play says uninstalling does not cancel a Play subscription; check the actual billing provider.
Does cancelling a plan close my dating account?
Not always. Check the dating service's own account instructions.
What if the subscription is on a family member's Apple Account?
Apple says the family member whose account is on the receipt may need to cancel it.
Will I automatically receive a refund?
Do not assume so. Ask the provider about the options that apply to your charge.
What if I cannot find the subscription in my account?
Check the account shown on the receipt and who billed the plan. If it was billed directly by the dating service, use that service's official billing help.
